Minister Annab receives Japan’s Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun

Jordan Daily – Japan has awarded Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Lina Annab, the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun, the highest class of the prestigious Japanese order, in recognition of her significant contributions to enhancing ties between the two countries during her tenure as ambassador of Jordan to Japan.

Annab, who served as Jordan’s ambassador to Japan from 2019 to 2024, received the decoration during an official ceremony at the Japanese Embassy in Amman on Thursday, the tourism ministry said in a statement.

Japanese Ambassador to Jordan, Asari Hideki praised Annab’s efforts in strengthening diplomatic, economic, and cultural cooperation between the two countries. He noted that her initiatives played a key role in expanding areas of mutual interest and raising Jordan’s profile in Japan.

Annab, who was appointed tourism minister following her diplomatic post, expressed gratitude to the Japanese government for the honor, calling it a testament to the deep-rooted friendship between Jordan and Japan.

“This award represents the shared dedication to building bridges of understanding and collaboration,” Annab said, adding that her years in Tokyo remain among the most memorable in her professional career.

Established in 1875, the Order of the Rising Sun is one of Japan’s highest national honors. The Grand Cordon is bestowed upon individuals who have made outstanding contributions to promoting international relations with Japan.
