Jordan Daily – U.S. President Donald Trump has invited leaders from several Arab and Muslim countries to a meeting on Tuesday in New York to discuss the war in Gaza, Israel’s Channel 12 reported on Sunday.
The meeting would take place on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly and include leaders of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan and Turkey, the channel said, citing two unnamed Israeli sources. Neither the White House nor the governments of the countries mentioned have confirmed the gathering.
The report comes as Israel masses troops, tanks and engineering units around Gaza City in preparation for an intensified ground offensive aimed at regaining control of the enclave, according to Israeli officials.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is due in Washington on Tuesday for talks with Trump at the White House, though no timing has been released.
Meanwhile, Britain, Canada and Australia on Sunday recognized the State of Palestine, raising the number of U.N. member states to do so to 152 out of 193. Several European nations, including France, Luxembourg and Belgium, have said they plan to follow suit during the ongoing U.N. session.
