
Jordan Daily – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah (UMPSA) and Amman Arab University (AAU) marked a significant milestone in Malaysia- Jordan higher education cooperation with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and three Memoranda of Agreement (MoAs).
The agreements aim to enhance collaboration in research, academic exchange, joint supervision, and capacity building, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing innovation and knowledge exchange between the two institution, Education Malaysia- Jordan said in a statement.

In her address, the Vice Chancellor of UMPSA emphasized that the partnership with AAU reflects UMPSA’s strategic vision to expand its global academic footprint and to foster meaningful international collaborations. She highlighted that the MoU and MoAs will create new opportunities for joint research initiatives, academic mobility for students and staff, and high-impact projects that contribute to societal and industrial development in both Malaysia and Jordan.
Professor Mohammad Al-Widyan, President of Amman Arab University, highlighted AAU’s strong and long-standing academic engagement with Malaysian higher education institutions. He noted that AAU has successfully secured more than 19 collaborative projects with nine Malaysian universities, and that the agreements signed with UMPSA further strengthen this cooperation through the Matching Grant initiative initiated by Education Malaysia Jordan (EMJ).

He further emphasized the depth of the academic relationship between the two countries, revealing that 67 members of AAU’s academic staff are graduates of Malaysian universities, a testament to the trust, quality, and enduring impact of Malaysian higher education on AAU’s academic development.
Ambassador of Malaysia to Jordan, Dato‘ Mohamad Nasri Abdul Rahman reaffirmed Malaysia’s strong support for academic and research collaboration between Malaysian and Jordanian universities. He emphasized that such partnerships extend beyond institutional cooperation, contributing to stronger people-to-people ties and sustainable academic ecosystems between both nations.

The ceremony also expressed deep appreciation to Education Malaysia Jordan (EMJ), an office operating under the umbrella of the Embassy of Malaysia in Jordan, for its instrumental role in initiating and facilitating the Matching Grant program and for its continued efforts in strengthening academic collaboration between Malaysia and Jordan.
The signing of the MoU and MoAs stands as a testament to the shared vision of UMPSA and AAU to promote excellence in education and research, while further reinforcing the growing strategic partnership between Malaysia and Jordan in the higher education sector, the statement noted.
