Jordan Daily – Ghada Fanek was elected unanimously by the Rotary Club of Amman Cosmopolitan for the coming year.
She will assume her new position during the annual Rotarian handover on June 28th. The unusual session was held due to the unexpected resignation of the previously elected president.
The election of Fanek came at the end of a regular general assembly meeting held at the Four Seasons Hotel on May 8th.
Outgoing president Nasri J. Rabadi gave a narrative and financial report in which he spoke about the club distributing 85 food boxes and renovating the water supply to three schools in Anjara and two schools in Huson. He also gave details of 17 heart surgeries for children that were part of a $79,000 Global Grant from Rotary International.
President Nasri also announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Rotary Club of Zurich which will ensure the supply of hearing aid to 25 children in Jordan as a pilot project that can be extended to help many needy children.
The 11th Rotary District 2452 is holding its annual conference June 27-29 under the theme “Thinking Green…living Green” at the Amman St. Regis Hotel.
