Jordan Daily – The Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) discussed reactivating the Jordanian-Egyptian Business Council early next year during a meeting between its chairman, Ayman Al-Alawneh, and Egypt’s ambassador to Jordan, Khaled Al-Abyad, the JBA said on Saturday
Alawneh stressed the need to strengthen economic ties and expand joint investments, saying the council would offer a key platform for the private sector to coordinate, identify opportunities and deepen trade and industrial cooperation. He urged addressing obstacles to trade, particularly shipping and transport costs.
Ambassador Al-Abyad said relations between the two countries are strong and that the embassy is ready to facilitate trade flows, support Jordanian exports to Egypt and help resolve challenges facing the movement of goods.
Bilateral trade reached $1 billion in 2024, up from $867 million in 2023, while Egyptian investments in Jordan stood at $4 million, down from $7.8 million a year earlier.
Board members Bashar Al-Zoubi, Hassan Al-Tabbaa, Salah Al-Bitar, and Director General Tariq Hijazi also attended the meeting.
