Jordan Daily – The Chairman of the Jordanian Businessmen Association, Ayman Al-Alawneh, discussed with Japan’s Ambassador to the Kingdom, Hideki Asari, ways to establish the Jordan- Japan Business Council and enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.
Al-Alawneh met with Japan’s ambassador to Jordan,Hideki Asari to discuss forming the council early next year to boost communication between investors and expand economic cooperation. He said Jordan offers competitive opportunities in renewable energy, technology and manufacturing, and that deeper cooperation with Japan would open new markets for Jordanian firms and attract more Japanese investment.
Ambassador Asari highlighted the strategic relationship between the two countries and the importance of King Abdullah’s recent visit to Japan in advancing economic and political cooperation. He welcomed the creation of the joint business council and stressed the need to enhance trade, investment and tourism. He also noted the regional challenges faced by Jordan and underscored the value of official exchanges, including a recent visit by a Senate delegation to Japan.
JBA board member Michael Nazzal said the King’s visit produced momentum in areas including tourism development, direct flight proposals and potential Japanese investment in fertilizers, engineering and transport.
Vice Chairman Osama Imseeh emphasized Jordan’s free-trade agreements with key global markets, saying the planned council would facilitate business networking and technology transfer.
Bilateral trade reached about $376 million in 2023, with Jordan exporting mainly vegetables, fruits and tobacco and importing machinery, processed food products and sugar from Japan.
