Morocco issues 150k e-visas in first year, Israelis top beneficiaries
Jordan Daily – The Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed that it has issued 150,000 electronic visas since introducing the service in July of the previous year. Notably, Israelis emerged as the main beneficiaries, accounting for 55 percent of the total e-visas granted.
According to an official statement , Indian nationals secured the second spot, with 10 percent of the electronic visas, while Nigeria and Egypt closely followed with 4 percent each. Pakistan claimed 3.5 percent of the e-visas, while Jordan rounded out the top list with 2.7 percent.
Moreover, the simplified visa application procedures introduced by the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended to an impressive 110 other nationalities spanning all continents of the world.
Highlighting the e-visa’s significance, the statement revealed that 96.6 percent of the 150,000 electronic visas were issued for tourism purposes, underscoring Morocco’s appeal as a tourist destination. The remaining 3.4 percent of e-visas were categorized for business-related travel.
The Moroccan Ministry’s statement considered the adoption of the electronic visa as a resounding success, citing its positive impact in enhancing flexibility and expediting visa procedures to the advantage of foreign nationals.
