Umm el-Jimal visitor numbers climb 17.4% in 2024
Jordan Daily – Visitor numbers to the ancient Umm al-Jimal site have reached 17,579 from the start of this year through September, up 17.4% compared to the same period in 2023, according to official data.
The site welcomed 16,589 Jordanian visitors and 990 international tourists during the first nine months of 2024, compared to 13,494 Jordanians and 1,480 foreign visitors in the same period last year, when total visits stood at 14,974.
The Umm al-Jimal archaeological site, which has recently been added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List, joins six other Jordanian landmarks on the prestigious list: Petra, Quseir Amra, Umm ar-Rasas, Wadi Rum, the Baptism Site , and Al-Salt.
